What a hectic winter we have endured! The water pipe lines that have never frozen before froze this year. The record cold temperatures for an extended time of 6 days took out most of the bathrooms around camp. Orville White (our maintenance man) has repaired over 35 splits in the copper pipes. Now, if these pipes were not behind the walls and out in the open, then I would not feel so bad for Orville.
Our 50th Anniversary plans are moving ahead at a great speed. We have received over forty letters to be added to the 50th Anniversary Book and over 20 requests for accommodations for the weekend of the 50th Anniversary weekend. So if you plan to stay overnight at Camp during the celebration, please let us know so that we will be able to accommodate you.
We are meeting to figure out how to best advertise the 50th Anniversary weekend. We are making decisions on what logos to put on the coffee cups, bags, t-shirts and other items to purchase for the 50th Anniversary. If you would like to help us and bring your ideas to the table to make it the best possible 50th Anniversary, please call us soon at 575-829-3060 and leave your name and contact information and we will notify you of our next meeting.
We are hearing from counselors, ex-head counselors and teachers. If you are in touch with other Hummingbird friends or teachers please let them know about the 50th Anniversary plans and maybe they can join us.
Please keep checking our 50th Anniversary page on this website for additional newsletter updates and activities at camp.
It is so much fun reading about everyone's camp experience and the list of campers, counselors and teachers you all remember.
